NoteThe spelling of Mary's surname, Weyms, we take from both her marriage registration and the biography of her father, James Weyms, that appears on page 545 of Warner & Beers 1883 work, The History of the County of Brant. James came to Canada from Ireland with his mother and siblings. They were at Kingston when he set out on his own and wound up at Brantford with $1.50 in his pocket. He went to work for a Mr. A. Huntington from whom he gained an education in business. For a tme he made and sold shoes, but eventually retired and was appointed police magistrate.

According to the inscription on the Chapman family gravestone in New Hope Cemetery, Hespeler, Mary Weyms died in Winnipeg on 11 September, 1958, in Winnipeg. Nothing has been found to confirm this. She may indeed be buried in Hespeler, or her name may simply be commemorated on the gravestone.
