She is shown as age '28' at the time of the 1861 census in the same location.

She is with her mother, again in Niagara Township, at the time of the 1871 census. Here, she is shown as age 40.

A death registration for Sarah has not been found. According to a transcription of the family gravestone in Stamford Presbyterian Cemetery, Sarah was born on September 20th, 1826, and died on April 12th, 1872. The City of Niagara Falls cemeteries webpage provides a photograph of the family stone and the inscription which is clearly visible on the photograph agrees with the transcription. Except...it's probably wrong and perhaps not inscribed until some time had elapsed after Sarah's death.

An index for Morse & Son, who were Sarah's undertakers, shows a funeral date of 15 April, 1873. The person ordering the funeral was Doctor Thorburn - probably Richard, though possibly James - and the index shows it to be for his 'sister Sarah'. The record on the index is entirely in sequence with other funeral dates on the same page and the pages following April 1872 deaths are entirely sequential.

Another source, somewhat supportive of the theory of an 1873 death, is the Surrogate Court Index for Lincoln & Welland Counties, 1859-1900, Vol. 5, second edition, Gibson, Hancocks, and Hancocks, Global Heritage Press, 2011, page 40. This indicates that Sarah left an estate (#478) dated 1873. The year is the only date shown. Her father died in November of 1862 and his estate is dated 1863, but this is likely due to his passing late in the year. Sarah died in April of, we believe, 1873. Given the early month, her estate was at least begun for processing later the same year.

A newspaper account of Sarah's passing has yet to be found.
