Thomas Cresswell Travis
Died Feb. 27, 1886
Aged 37 years
Also His Infant Child
Florence May
At Peace

The photo of the above gravestone makes it evident that Thomas is buried with his parents as well as his infant child.

Thomas Cresswell Travis died February 27, 1886. Age 37. Fireman. Born Toronto(?). Church of England. Cause of death consumption. Physician and informant Byron E. Ghent, M.D.

As shown above, Thomas and Mary Ann had a child Florence May who died in infancy and whose name is inscribed with her father of their gravestone. No dates are given for Florence and birth or death registrations have not been found.

Listed are two sons for whom we have reasonable documentation: George, who born and died in 1879, and William George, who was born in 1880.

Beyond this, there were likely other children:

Elizabeth Travis who died of diptheria in 1879, age two years;
Eliza Travis who died in1882 age 2 days;
Percy Travis who died in August of 1884, age 8 months.

The rather uninformative nature of death registrations for this era being what they were, the only common thread for these three children is that they died in households of Anglican Church members. They were probably all children of Thomas and Mary Ann, but no confirming information has been found.
