Zobeda Hall born Dec 26, 1875. Parents Lines Hall and Minerva Jane Smith.
Physician Dr. J. B. Lundy. Informant Lines Hall, laborer, Beverly, who returned this information on January 7, 1876.

The registrar, Wallace McDonald, did not return the page to the county level until June 30th, 1876, hence the 1876 registration.

Lines Hall died in 1896 and he is buried in the cemetery at Sheffield, Ontario, with some young or infant children. One of the inscriptions reads:

Solida Hall, born Dec. 26, 1876/Died Dec. 29, 1876.

This inscription must surely have been added in later years. Indeed, the stone may possibly not have been erected until the death of Lines, Zobeda's father.

As noted above, Solida's name was surely Zobeda and we are left to believe from the inscription on the stone that she died three days after her birth. The death registrations for Beverly Township have been searched from 1875 thru 1877 and nothing referring to any name such as Zobeda has been found. We have but the birth registration for her which dates her birth to Dec. 26, 1875 and so we show her death as Dec 29, 1875. Which is in complete contradiction of her gravestone, but we must believe that the family erred with her birth and death dates when the stone was erected at a later date. Her birth registration leaves us with little room for another interpretation.

A further note.

The handwriting of Wallace McDonald, the Beverly Township registrar, is, by 1875, challenging. This can lead to poor indexing. Add to that, the number of images for deaths in 1875 is rather light when compared with other years, particularly those immediately following. When viewing these pages, as they appear on the original Archives of Ontario's microfilm, it becomes evident that there were misfilings, for pages from other towns or townships occasionally show up, locations that are quite elsewhere than in Wentworth County. If Zobeda did indeed survive only three days and noting that the information relating to her birth was submitted on January 7 of 1876, then it is possible that a registration for Zobeda's death may be found elsewhere.
