BurialHe was buried at St. George Cemetery, South Dumfries Twp..
NoteDeath reg. 001099-69 South Dumfries Twp., Brant Co.
Daniel Howell died 3 August 1869. Age 48. Farmer. Born Ancaster. Baptist. Physician and informant E. E. Kitchen, M.D., St. George.

E. E. Kitchen was Daniel's brother-in-law.

The Kitchen family gravestone in St. George Cemetery shows Daniel's death year as 1879. This is per two transcriptions of the stone and we must consider it to be an error, the information being inscribed many years later, for, quite clearly, Daniel's death registration is dated 1869. Add to that, Daniel is living at the time of the 1851 and 1861 censuses in South Dumfries, but by the time of the 1871 census Sarah Howell is shown as a widow.

The McGill University County and Township map project shows a map of South Dumfries from a gazetteer dated 1875. This shows Mrs. Howell on lot 15 of the 3rd concession. This agrees with the 1842 Upper Canada census which shows Daniel Howell on the same lot and concession. The 1891 farmer's directory also shows Mrs. S. Howell on the same lot and concession. (The 1842 census shows Daniel Howell on C3-L15 as a farmer, though the owner and/or mortgage holder is shown as Enoch Howell.)
