The 1861 census for Yarmouth Township in Elgin County shows the birth place of Frederick House, father of Rhoda, as being in Upper Canada.

Some Kindred, or Kindree, notes:

Rhoda's mother is shown as Mary Kindred in the above death registration. More accurately, her name will have been Kindree. As will be noted, Rhoda is said to have been born in Trafalgar Township, now a part of Halton County. Prior to 1816, Trafalgar was in the Home District, then in 1816 it became part of the newly formed Gore District.

Men of Upper Canada, Militia Nominal Rolls, 1828-1829, Elliott, Walker, and Stratford-Devai, published in 1995 by the Ontario Geneagical Society, shows William, Nathaniel and Amos Kindred in the 2nd Regiment of Gore Militia. This regiment was drawn from Trafalgar Township and the two Flamboroughs. The family spread out from there, though Amos appears to have remained in Trafalgar. Later census information shows him as a Kindree. Some of the family went to Haldimand and Elgin Counties and it was in Elgin County that Rhoda resided in her later years. So far, no clear information as to her mother's parentage has been found, but, as mentioned, Barnabus and Rhoda were almost certainly cousins at some level.
