On 12th August, 1878, at St. George, by Rev. David Chalmers.

David Chalmers was the Wesleyan Methodist minister at St. George from 1877 to 1879. With Arthur being Anglican and Jane United Brethren, the arrangement with a Wesleyan Methodist minister to marry them must have been one of convenience. It may in part be accounted for by Ellen Sager's residence in St. George at the time. She was Jane's sister.
