The Elgin County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society provides an index to the St. Thomas Times Journal. The edition of 28 November 1919, page 6, is said to carry Alexander's death notice. This dates his death to November 27, 1919, and his funeral to November 29 and from the funeral home to St. Thomas Cemetery.

Based on Alexander's age, 30, as given on his marriage registration in February of 1870, his year of birth is approximated to 1840. If his age of 83 is correct as of his dae of death then his year of birth might be rather closer to 1836.

Alexander's surname is shown as McBrayen on his marriage registration, but as McBrayne on his death registration. Both spellings appear with families in Yarmouth that were probably related to Alexander.

McGill University's Canadian County Atlas Digital Project shows an A. McBrayne on Concession 10, lot 5, 100 acres. This is extracted from an 1877 atlas.
