The Elgin County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society provides extensive transcriptions of Elgin County gravestones. They found no monument for either Alexander or Agnes. For Agnes, they index a death notice from the St. Thomas Times Journal of April 4, 1927, page 7 which notes that Mrs. Agnes McBrayne, 81 years, died on Apr. 3. Widow of Alexander McBrayne.

Note that Agnes' date of birth appears in her death registration as Oct. 21, 1846. Her date of birth appears in the 1901 census as enumerated in Yarmouth Township as 25 October 1846. The 1901 census has at least the day and month correctly. The 1901 census also shows her place of birth as Scotland as opposed to Yarmouth Township in her marriage registration. The 1901 census also shows the year she came to Canada as 1855. This mostly agrees with the year as provided by other members of her family. The 1911 census shows her birth as being in October of 1845 and, again, the year of immigration 1855.
