| Note | The baptism record for Isobel Moffat is to be found on microfilm LCM-30, which shows the baptism records of First Church in Galt. This church was at the time Presbyterian, but is now of the United Church of Canada and the church's records are to be found in the United Church Archives in Toronto. This series of pages does not name the parents. Isobel is simply shown as Isobel Moffat under the year 1836 and the date of baptism being July 31. This was indeed a Sunday and the baptism will have been held in the church. At the time of the 1851 census in North Dumfries, Isabell Moffatt, age 16, is in her parents' household. She is likewise with her parents in the 1861 census where she is shown as Isabel, age 25, and in 1871 where she is shown as Isabella, age 33. She is not present with the family at the time of the 1881 census. A marriage registration is found for Isabella. She married Alexander Cairns of Galt, a widower, in May of of 1872 in North Dumfries. The gravestone for Alex and Isabella show only their years of birth and death. Alex' year of birth on the stone reads 1840 and Isabel's as 1837. The 1901 census shows Alex' full date of birth as August 20, 1838, and Isabella's as July 1, 1836. These are the much more likely to be accurate, especially when considering that Isabella was baptised on July 31st, 1836. A death registration for Isabella has been found, but not one for Alexander. The following death registration is not legible on all points. Death reg. 029426-08 North Dumfries Twp., Waterloo Co. Isabella Moffatt Cairns died Oct 8, 1908, at ...Concession 10, North Dumfries Township. Born July 1st, 1837(?) Married. Housekeeper. Age 71 yrs, 3 mos., 7 days.
