Mulholland, North Dumfries. Setelmore is shown as such on his birth registration and as Elmer on his marriage registration. Locating Setelmore Elmer Mulholland in census information provides some difficulty. He is probably 'Eleanor', age 5 and shown as a female, in the 1891 census in North Dumfries. This is apparently an enumerator's error, misrendering his given name Elmer. He has yet to be found in the 1901, 1906 western, or 1911 censuses, but he and Ethel appear at Swift Current, Saskatchewan, in the 1916 Western Canada census. They have yet to be found in the 1921 census, but do appear in voter's lists at Swift Current in later years. Swift Current is probably a regional address, for in 1954, Ethel filed a delayed registration of her birth and showed her current location as Central Butte, Saskatchewan. What is to be found is a link at Library & Archives Canada's website to Western Land Grants. This is undated, but shows Setelmore Mulholland on Part SE, Section 30, Township 21, Range 4, Meridian W3, and this agrees with his location in Saskatchewan as he provided it for his marriage license application, which appears on the same form as the marriage registration itself. It is also the one other place where we find confirmation of his given name 'Setelmore'. (There are two somewhat similar grants for Setelmore Mulholland.) Elmer and Ethel are buried in Central Butte Cemetery at Central Butte, Saskatchewan. Photos of their gravestones appear on Find-a-Grave and their years of death are taken from these. Elmer's name appears on his gravestone as Elmer S. Mulholland. Ethel's year of birth is shown on her gravestone as 1886, though she showed it as 1887 on her delayed registration of birth. |
