That the couple was married at Rockton is not stated on the marriage registration, only the township is mentioned. The birth registration of daughter Vera May, however, states that the parents were married at Rockton (which is in Beverly Township) on March 8th, 1905. |

| Note | A birth registration for William J. Mulholland has not been found. His middle name, however, is shown as James on daughter Vera's birth registration. The 1911 census at Preston appears to show his birth as being in December of 1878, but this does not work with census information, the 1881 census included. He was apparently born in 1876. Certainly, his year of birth on his gravestone in Preston Cemetery is shown as 1876. The 1921 census shows William and Annie in Preston with daughter Vera and Jessie. No other children are present. Little has been learned regarding this son of William and Susan Mulholland. Some trees have him as William James Mulholland, born in 1876, and this is likely correct. No birth or marriage registrations have been found for him, however. As with the other children, he was born in North Dumfries. He is entered in this tree because he appears in the 1881 census as William. It is said that he married Annie M. Nichol, and, according to an online index, they may be buried in Old Preston Cemetery. More research is needed. The 1911 census taken at Preston, Ontario, does lend weight to his being a member of the family, for he appears there with brothers Milton and George living under his roof. With him are wife Annie and daughter Vera age 2, said to be born in August 1908. He is likely the William Mulholland who appears in the 1901 census in North Dumfries working for Robert Scott. Further research is needed. A burial record has been found in Old Preston Cemetery for William J. Mulholland and his wife Annie M. Nicol. With them is buried a Stanley Quelch, 1907-1944, and, per a burial card, Mrs. Vera McLaren and baby. No dates are given on the card. |
