| Note | At the time of the 1911 census, Adeline is with her brother William in Normanby Township, Grey County. She has yet to be found in the 1921 census. The 1935 Voter's List shows her in Lambton West (Sarnia) where she is an evangelist. Adeline is still in Sarnia and shown as an evangelist in Sarnia in 1940 and there in 1945 as well and shown as a minister. She is still in Sarnia in 1953 and listed simply as Adeline Stephan. The 1940, 1945 and 1953 Voter's Lists show Adeline sharing quarters with a Miss Annie Kay. They are buried together in Lakeview Cemetery, Sarnia. CanGenWeb has a photograph of their gravestone. Anne Louisa Kay died in 1975. A researcher has kindly advised that Adeline was an evangelist with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. He has also sent me a copy of Adeline's obituary which appeared on page 22 of The Sarnia Observer, in the Monday, February 11, 1957, edition. It tells of her early evangelistic work in Sarnia and how that after several congregations were started they were grouped under the Bethel Pentecostal Church on Essex Street in Sarnia. A photograph of Adeline, a very pleasant looking woman, is included with the obituary. |
