| Note | The Barnard usage is continued in this tree, but Henry did spell his name as Barnett and the transcription of his stone at Strabane Cemetery shows Barnett and this is shown here. Both the 1901 and 1911 censuses taken at West Flamboro give the year of birth for Henry as 1843. Of course, this is possible, but his marriage registration suggests that 1844 is correct. Birth information for the Barnard/Barnet children is taken from various sources: the 1881 census; the 1901 census; the 1911 census; where found, birth registrations. A farmers' directory for West Flamboro in 1891 has Henry at C8-L7. The death registration form is a bit unusual. It is headed: For the Registration of Deaths which occur outside the division of Dundas, County of Wentworth. The inscription at the bottom seems to relate to the issue of burial permits. For Henry, the registration makes it clear that he died at Strabane. Death reg. 049190-18 Strabane, W. Flamboro. Henry Barnett, age 74, died July 6, 1918. Place of birth Galt(?), place of death Strabane, W. Flamboro, place of burial Strabane. Laborer. Married. Father William Barnett, mother Maggie McCarthy (?). Informant William H. Barnett, Aldershot, RR1. Since Henry gave his place of birth as Dumfries for his marriage registration, this is used as his place of birth. Of course, his mother was Margaret McArthur. |
