NoteCatherine's first husband was Erastus Howard who died in 1882 and is buried in Oshawa Municipal Cemetery. This is related by information on Find-a-Grave. This also includes Catherine's death in Souris, Manitoba, which is dated 3 July, 1914. Apparently, Catherine's inscription is included on the stone, though the photograph isn't clear on this point. It's unclear whether Catherine is actually buried in Oshawa or was interred in Manitoba. Certainly, it wasn't uncommon to return remains from Manitoba to Ontario for burial once the railway was established.

Catherine's maiden name was Farquarson. This is made clear by birth registrations of the children of Erastus and Catherine and her parents' names appear on her marriage registration to Sherman.

Catherine does not appear to have remained with Sherman, but is found in Souris at the time of the 1901 and 1911 censuses. She was living with daughters at the time.
