| Note | Nicholas' date of birth is taken from a family history as written in a letter by Alfred Stevens Brown to his son Egerton Brown. Nothing is said of his marriage. As noted, Nicholas' wife, Mary, had the same surname. Their marriage registration shows Nicholas as a Quaker and Mary as being of the Church of England. That they had the same surname was probably happenstance. |
