Barbara Caroline Dennis, 28, spinster, born Canada, residing Whitchurch. Friends. Parents Brook and Esther Dennis.
Witnesses Alfaretta Dennis, Whitchurch, and James R. Brown, Toronto.
On 14 October, 1879, at Whitchurch, residence of bride's father. By John Brown.

Benjamin's father is shown as Thomas rather than Sherman. Looking over the 1861 and 1871 census (the latter being badly faded), it seems reasonable to believe that the township clerk mistranscribed the clergyman's handwriting and that Sherman Brown should be shown as the groom's father.

MarriageHe married Kate Copeland MacDonald on 19 June 1889 at Stanstead, Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Find-a-Grave provides an index indicating that he is indeed interred in Mount Royal Cemetery.

As well, Alfred Stevens Brown, in his letter of 1938 to his son Egerton, enumerates his siblings and dates the death of Benjamin Hallowell Brown to 26 October, 1936. A descendant has graciously moved this letter into the public domain.
