| Note | She Thanks to Rosemary Ambrose, we have an extraction from The Dumfries Reformer of Galt, edition of 7 April, 1858. This announces the birth of a daughter, unnamed, to Alex McArthur of Plattsville. Comparing various census information, this daughter can only be Elizabeth Leece McArthur. The date of birth given is 3 April, 1858. Death information is taken from Elizabeth's gravestone. There is a one day variance with the Reformer notice. The date entered here is taken from her stone. First Church Galt's baptism records show the baptism of Elizabeth Leish, daughter of Alex McArthur, Dumfries, on June 6, 1858. Given the earlier information, we must believe Alex McArthur and his family to be living in Blenheim Township of Oxford County and not in Dumfries. |
