Note | Death reg. 030405-07 Galt, Waterloo Co. Margaret Stalker died March 11, 1907. Age 82 years. Housewife. Widow. Presbyterian. Physician and informant Dr. J. S. Wardlaw. Margaret and John's children are all marked as born in Upper Canada ( by this time Canada West) or Ontario in different census years. The 1901 census shows Margaret in Beverly and this states that she came to Canada in 1852. (This may be correct, but is rather more likely to be approximate.) It's tempting to wonder if Margaret is a family connection of Henry Lamb of Beverly, he who tried to build a city in the wilderness - near Sheffield - and called it Romulus. Considering that she came from Ireland and at a rather later era, we are forced to deny ourselves the notion - which is unfortunate, for it would be a pathway back to some great stories. |
