Note | For the following, we are indebted to CanGenWeb for the posting of a photo of a repaired gravestone in Maus/Paris Plains Cemetery. At time of writing, this transcription as well as the photograph was only recently posted. The Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society has a transcription of this cemetery done no later than 2006, though probably rather earlier - perhaps in the 1980s or 1990s. Interment.net also has a transcription of the cemetery done in 2007. The Brant County OGS transcription tells that Mary Elizabeth, and Helen Colvin's deaths are recorded on the same stone with no mention of Agnes Law. The photo of their repaired stone includes a small portion at the bottom at the bottom that records Agnes' passing as follows: Agnes the wife of James Law who died Feb. 23rd 1837 aged 50 years. Given that Agnes Law's passing is recorded on a Colvin stone and that the children's mother was Agnes Law, we must believe this Agnes to be the children's grandmother. It would appear that when the Colvins came to Canada, James Law was already dead and that they brought Agnes Law, the mother of Agnes Law Colvin with them. |
