William Nelson Van Every
ID # 4986, (1822-1907)
| Birth | William Nelson Van Every was born on 4 November 1822 at Upper Canada. |
| Marriage | He married Sarah Maria Wilber, daughter of Jeremiah Wilber and Susan Kitchen. |
| Death | He died on 12 February 1907 at Middleville, Thornapple Twp., Barry Co., Michigan, at age 84. |
| Burial | He was buried on 14 February 1907 at Mt. Hope Cemetery. |
| Note | Nelson and Maria are in Oneida Township of Haldimand County as of the 1851 census. William Nelson Van Every evidently went by Nelson from information found on census records. Transcriptions of Maria's gravestone in St. George Baptist Cemetery show his name as Wm. J. VanEvery. Since they also show Maria's year of death as 1836, we must believe the gravestone to have been quite worn at the time. See notes under Maria, but the Christian Messenger makes it clear that she died in Beverly Township on 6 April 1856. There is some evidence, yet to be researched, that Nelson married a second time, but his death registration indicates that he had five children of whom five were living, so it may be that all the children that he had were by Maria. Nelson's death registration is found on the website Seeking Michigan: State of Michigan, Certificate of Death No. 5 County of Barry Township of Thornapple Village of Middleville William N. VanEvery Mother's name unknown Father Born Canada, mother's place of birth unknown. Occupation farmer. Burial Mt. Hope Cemetery, Feb. 14, 1907 Informant Gertrude Allen, Middleville, Michigan. Such information as we have suggests that Nelson's father was Andrew Van Every Junior, wife probably Nancy. This remains to be researched. |
