NoteElizabeth Keachie was born 18 November, 1861, and baptized at First Church in Galt on 19 January, 1862. Her baptism record appears on the First Church list of baptisms for the year 1862 (see microfilm GS2987. The record book has no page numbers.)

Elizabeth, age 9, is with her parents at the time of the 1871 census in North Dumfries Township.

The 1881 census in Woolwich Township has an interesting entry. It shows an Elizabeth Keitchie, age 19, Presbyterian, in a household, the head of which might be Harriet Smith. Everyone else in the household is United Brethren. If this is indeed Elizabeth Keachie, then she is living in a sea of United Brethren church members. This was likely not an alien concept to her, for Elizabeth had family in the Branchton-Sheffield area and, especially in the Sheffield area of Beverly Township, there were many of the United Brethren persuasion. Elizabeth is shown with an occupation which is nearly unreadable, but is probably an abbreviation for school mistress. Woolwich Township includes the village of Elmira and is to the north of what was then the Waterloo County seat of Berlin, now Kitchener.

(Online images of 1881 pages are usually badly faded. Library & Archives Canada has worked some magic with the available microfilm, which is all that survives of this census, and it is usually readable via their website.)

It does appear that in 1891, Elizabeth is with her parents in North Dumfries.

In 1892, Lizzie Keachie of Galt was the informant in the birth of Florence Annie Dale, the daughter of her sister Mary.

At the time of the 1901 census, Elizabeth appears as a domestic with Robert Cranston, by this time her parents being deceased.
