Alonzo's history is of interest. He and his brothers were completing their education in Cleveland at the time of the outbreak of the Civil War. They enlisted. Alonzo served first as a teamster and then in the artillery and survived the war and was honorably discharged. The Wolverton Cemetery at the village of Wolverton in Blenheim Township is not a large cemetery, though there are certainly burials there that are of persons other than the Wolverton family. The Cemeteries of the County of Oxford, Ontario, website has a collection of photographs of the gravestones. It becomes obvious that at least some children of Alonzo and Helen were named after a previous generation. |
