|Note||The early communicant's list for First Church is dated July 8, 1824. The entries on the two pages are to a degree obscure and we rely for interpretation on the 125th anniversary First Church publication (1949), Banners Unfurled, The History of First United Church, Galt, Canada, 1824-1949, by Andrew W. Taylor. For this, see pages 13 and 14.|
This shows Thomas Keachie as a communicant on July 8th, 1824, which is at the time of organization. Margaret Keachie is also shown as a communicant by profession of faith. This was apparently conducted by a Rev. Thomas Beveridge and the handwriting on the two pages is probably his. The branch of Presbyterianism at First Church at this early date was the Associate Reformed Church.
