Elizabeth Belcher died at Alexandra Marine & General Hospital in Goderich on August 20, 1945. Residence Cambria Road, Goderich. Widowed. Born Ontario on Jan. 16, 1876. Age 78 yrs., 7 mos., 6 dys. Husband Edgerton Charles Belcher. Parents Andrew Carrick and Isabel Hill, both born Scotland. Physician Dr. Graham, Nelson St., Goderich. Informant George Belcher, step-son, Goderich. Burial August 22, 1945, at Kintail Cemetery, Ashfield Township.

Elizabeth was born much earlier than 1876. She appears with her widowed mother and siblings in Ashfield Township at the time of the 1871 census and she is shown as age 6. This would approximately date her year of birth to 1865. Her gravestone in Kintail Cemetery shows her year of birth as 1867, but this is also likely not quite accurate. Elizabeth (Liza) is shown as 15 at the time of the 1881 census. The 1871 census is probably the most accurate.
