Huron County Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Rev. Alexander Grant, a minister of the Canada Presbyterian Church for the year ending 31st day of December, A.D. 1865

David Hooey, 27, born Canada, residing Ashfield. Parents....
Margt. Carrick, 18, born Canada, residing Ashfield. Parents Andrew Carrick and Isabella Hill.
Witness Edward Hooey, Cartwright Twp.
On 14 December 1865.

The first problem with the above is that the groom's name might be almost anything, but Hooey, which was a guess, turns out to be correct for Margaret's death registration confirms it. Likewise census and birth registrations for their children.

The second problem is that either the registrar or the clergyman who submitted the record wrote Margaret's parents' names in as David's parents as well as writing them in as hers.

Beyond that, the next marriage listed is that of Margaret's sister Mary who was married two days later.
