NoteBirth reg. 022754-82 Oshawa, Ontario Co.
18 September 1882 Edith Myrtle Bailey, d/o J.G. Bailey, Oshawa, springmaker, and Isabella Carrick.

Myrtle appears in the household of Louis Bailey in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in the 1910 census, where she is described as the sister of Louis. Her age is given as 26. No information is given as to work she might have performed. Since both Louis and his wife Katherine were physicians, it is possible that she assisted with child care.

It is obvious from border crossing information in 1950 that Myrtle either was or had been married, she gives her address as Leaside, Ontario, and refers to her son, John R. Thompson, apparently at the same Leaside address. She was en route to visit a nephew in Philadelphia, Dr. Donald Fraser Lyle. Given that she was still single in 1910, a birth registration is not presently available in Ontario for a John Thompson if, indeed, he was born in Canada. It may be that she married in the United States.
