Catherine Buchanan, 49, born Washington (the family farm in Blenheim township was immediately next to the village of Washington), residing Galt. Parents William Buchanan and Catherine Harvie. Witnesses Washington Buchanan of St. Catharines, and William Buchanan of Glenmorris. On 25, November, 1904, at Galt, by Robert Pettigrew. This story was told to me by a grand daughter of Washington Buchanan who liked to tell a story of his sister Catherine. It will be noted that she was ten years older than her husband. Her date of birth was December 4, 1854. The date of her marriage was 25th November 1904, while she was still 49. So the story goes, she said to Christie, if we're going to be married then let's get on with it. I don't want my marriage certificate to show that I was 50 when I got married. Robert Pettigrew was minister at the Glen Morris church for many years and probably still at the time of the marriage of Christie and Catherine. |

| Note | This researcher has seen a photograph of Catherine Buchanan taken at the age of seventeen. The photo is posed rather unusually for the era. She is seated at a table with her elbows resting upon it. Her fingers are interlaced under her chin. She is facing the camera directly and, also unusually, the photographer has asked her to smile. Per information to be found in Catharine's and Christie's marriage registration, Catharine was born in Blenheim Township in Oxford County where her parents moved after they were married. |
