Note | John's middle name is taken from the attestation papers of his son, Charles Franklin Bennett. The 1911 census shows John Bennett at Battleford District in Saskatchewan. Interestingly, when his son Charles joined the Canadian Army in 1916, he gave his father as his next of kin and showed his residence as Virden, Manitoba. Land Records show Vinton Bennett taking up land in Saskatchewan, but a sure record of this for John hasn't been found. It would appear that he was back in Manitoba by 1916. John's wife and children, other than Vinton, are in Virden, Manitoba, at the time of the 1911 census. |
