Lydia Griffiths

ID # 3348, (1796-1854)
BirthLydia Griffiths was born on 25 January 1796.
MarriageShe married Lawrence Corson, son of Daniel Corson and Rebecca Lawrason, on 25 January 1814.
The marriage date for Lawrence Corson and Lydia is taken from Notes From Niagara, May 1996, page 19. This was submitted by Corson Ellis of New Jersey and said to be extracted from the Corson Family Bible.

DeathShe died on 1 September 1854 at age 58.
BurialShe was buried at Beamsville First Baptist Cemetery.
NoteSee notes for husband Lawrence with reference to transcriptions of Beamsville First Baptist. The transcription for Lydia has her death date as September 1, 1854. Her age is shown as being 59 years, 9 months, 25 days. This does not agree with the date of Lydia's birth as it appears in the Corson Family Bible, per Corson Ellis. See page 19 of Notes from Niagara, May of 1996.

We show Lydia's maiden name as Griffiths for imperfect reasons, for we do not have a first source. A brief family tree from Corson Ellis of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, and dated 5 June, 1996, has Lydia's name as Griffith. Considering that Mr. Ellis states that he is working from a family bible in the above contribution, it is reasonable to take it as accurate. \

Beyond that, the two family baptisms of January 3, 1816, at Niagara, performed by Robert Addison, show sponsors for Barnabas by the name of Griffiths, probably members of Lydia's family.

This reads in full:
3 Jan. 1816, Barnabas, son of Lawrence and Lydia Corson. Sponsors Jno. Hodgkinson, Ja's and Catherine Griffiths.
