George Aulseybrook
ID # 2978, (1872-1950)
Birth | George Aulseybrook was born in 1872. |
Marriage | He married Nellie May Lawrason, daughter of Titus Geer Lawrason and Mary Ellen Van Every, on 24 November 1897 at Ingersoll, Oxford, Co.. Marriage reg. 011229-97 Ingersoll, Oxford Co. George Aulseybrook, 25, bachelor, merchant, residing Burford Village. Parents Geo. Aulseybrook and Mary Secord. Nellie Lawrason, 24, spinster, residing Cathcart. Parents (writing nearly illeg.) Thos. Lawrason and mother 'don't know'. Only one witness shown, Thos. Lawrason. On 24 Nov. 1897 at Ingersoll. The groom was Episco. and the bride Meth. Clergyman (perhaps) I.J. Atkins. George's last name is shown as Aulseybrook and appears so on other records, such as the family gravestones in Holy Trinity Cemetery at Burford. This appears in the transcription of the cemetery as done by the Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society and is confirmed by photo essays of the cemetery as found on Find-a-Grave and CanGenWeb. Ausleybrook is (probably) the rather more common spelling, but this seems to be how his family spelled it and, evidently, how George himself spelled it. Nellie's father's name, as shown in the above marriage registration, wasn't Thomas but Titus. That it was interpreted as 'Thomas' is almost certainly a handwriting problem. |
Death | He died in 1950. |
Burial | He was buried at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Burford, Burford Twp.. |
