DeathHe died on 8 August 1873 at Goderich, Huron County, Ontario, at age 82.
NoteThe family record as written by Lawrence Lawrason jr., has it that his brother Joseph was born in Ancaster on 7 November, 1790. This may be a bit early for the family to be located in Ancaster. The record goes on to say that Joseph died at Goderich on 8th August, 1873.

Joseph Lawrason is present in the Township of Goderich at the time of the 1842 census and assessment. He has 240 acres on C2-Lots 5, 6 and 7. His household is shown as consisting of 2 males over 16 and 3 males under 16; 2 females over 16 and 2 females under. The 1851 census for the Township of Goderich is missing.

Joseph Lawrason and his family were Anglican. Where he and his farmily were buried isn't presently clear. The original St. George's Anglican Church in Goderich was built in 1843 with an adjoining burial ground. The church burned in 1879 and the burial ground was abandoned. It is said that the remains were moved to either Maitland Cemetery or to Colborne Cemetery, across the Maitland River in Colborne Township. In recent years some digging at the sight of the old burial ground has turned up human bones, so it would appear that not all remains were moved. It may be that the Lawrason remains were moved to another Anglican church.

The 1861 census at Goderich Twp., Huron Co., Enumeration Dist. 1, page 6, seems to show all the Lawrason's together, though it's possible they were under separate roofs. The name is spelled Lawrison. Joseph is shown as age 71 and Samantha as age 67. Their marriage year is shown as 1835, though we have their marriage record as 1826 - which makes more sense, given the age of the children. With them is Thomas, age 31, and Francis M., age 24. (Francis may have had more than one middle name, but the evidence indicates that his middle name was Bond.)
Then appears Nathaniel P. Lawrison, age 62. With him is Ruth Wilson, born Ireland, age 21. She is shown as other than a member of the family and she is almost certainly working as a domestic. Then appears William C. Lawrison and Constance. their marriage year is shown as 1859 (correct) and he is 27 and she 20. Elizabeth Lawrison is shown as age 1. With them is Betty Thomas, age 18, born England. She is shown as other than a member of the family, but may be sister to Constance.

Death reg. 032954-73 Goderich Township, Huron Co.

The name of the road where William Lawrason lived looks to be abbreviated and it isn't very legible. Perhaps something like Bay... Road.
