DeathHe died on 8 October 1902 at age 60.
BurialHe was buried at Sardis Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Linden, North Carolina.
NoteGeorge's date of birth is taken from a transcription of his gravestone at Sardis Presbyterian Church in Linden, North Carolina, and the 1900 U.S. census at Carvers Creek Township in Cumberland County, North Carolina. The family was in Carvers Creek Township at the time of the 1880 and 1900 US censuses. George died in 1902 and while the cemetery transcription shows him buried with his mother- and father-in-law, it isn't clear where his wife Mary is buried. The 1900 census tells that the parents and grandparents in the household came to North Carolina in 1872, that all living children were born in North Carolina (this agrees with the 1880 census), and that Mary gave birth to 8 children of whom five were living in 1900. Our list of children shows only five. Amelia was present in 1880, but not in 1900; Jeannie C. was not born until 1884 and is only found in the 1900 census.

It is evident from the 1880 census that George Mortimer Lawrason is working for his father-in-law William Rosebrugh. William is shown as 58 and his wife Jane is 57. With them is a sister, evidently a Rosebrugh, whose age is given as 38. Also present is Charles Vansickle, age 60, born in Canada and working on the farm.

By 1900, William Rosebrugh has died (1891). His wife Jane died in 1905.

Per the Sardis Presbyterian Cemetery transcription:
William Rosebrugh, born in Branchton, Canada, 10/1/1821-12/1891.
Jane Shearer, wife of William Rosebrugh, 5/-/1823 - 5/30/1905.

In the 1910 census, we find Mary Rosebrugh Lawrason with daughters Bessie and Jennie in Spartanburgh, South Carolina.

One other point of interest with regard to Mortimer is that he appears in the 1861 South Dumfries census with his parents. His age is given as 18. His residence, however, is shown in the right hand column as Cobourg. It is believed he was attending college.
