| Note | Amelia appears with her family in the 1851 census in South Dumfries, and her age is shown as 11. Her date of birth is taken from the short history of Purvis Douglas Lawrason as it appears Warner, Beers & Co. History of Brant County. This history gives her date of death as 28 December 1858. Her inscription on the family grave shows her death as 29 December 1859 and this latter date is entered here.
The Wesleyan Methodist Baptisms for June 16, 1845, show three of the children of Purvis and Charlotte Lawrason being baptized. These were all done on the Dumfries 'Circuit', which will be in Dumfries Township. While the baptism record does not say so, the children were probably baptized at the Wesleyan Methodist Church at St. George. The officiating clergyman was G. Ferguson. Here, by the way, Amelia's middle name is shown as Louisa. |
