Attended by Dr. S. E. Charlton. Registered Nov. 7, 1907 Carlyle is buried in section 5, Mountview with his parents. His name does not appear on the gravestone, but is found in a transcription of the burial cards and shows him buried in the same plot. The date given is 7 Nov., 1970, which may be date of death or date of burial. Also buried in the same plot is a James Alex Houghton, 21 June 1970 (death or burial). No connection to the Lovegrove family has been found, but it appears that he was born in Beverly Township in 1890, the son of William Houghton and Ellen McNellas. A transcription of the family gravestone does mention two military crosses and may possibily indicate Carlyle's involvement in the Second World War, perhaps James Houghton's as well. A record for their service has not yet been found. |
