Age 61 yrs., 8 mos., 15 dys. At place of death 8 years. In province life. Parents James Hunt and Ruth Able, both shown as being born at Galt, Ontario. Informant Robert Brown, 157 Sunset Ave., Sandwich, husband. Burial Greenlawn Cemetery on may 5, 1931. (It's interesting to note that the above death registration places the birth of Cecilia's parents at Galt. 'Near Galt' would be closer to it. Ruth Able was born in Beverly and, probably, so was James.) Where all the family lived isn't clear. that Robert Brown was a sailor on the Great Lakes is a reasonable deduction, for the family seems to have lived in towns that were Great Lakes ports. They were married in Derby Township in 1890 but living in Owen Sound in 1891, per the census of that year. Russell and Oswald, as they seem to have been known, were born in Owen Sound in 1894 and 1896 respectively. The 1901 census show Robert and Cecilia in Windsor with their two sons and Cecilia's Aunt Harriet mentioned 'Tilley Brown', her niece, specifically mentioned as the daughter of James and Ruth Hunt, in her will, the date of probate being 21 December, 1909. 'Tilley' is mentioned in item number 15 and while the typed page does not say so, the domicile of the beneficiaries is annotated in pencil beside each and Tilley is shown as being in Windsor. The family is still in Windsor in 1911. Robert Brown is still shown as a sailor and son Russell is shown as a student and as being in collegiate. They have not been found in the 1921 census, but as can be seen above, Cecilia died in Sandwich in 1931 and is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery which is evidently in Oldcastle, Sandwich Township. |
