| Note | Birth reg. 034169-80 Galt, Waterloo County Chester Leslie Teeple born 21 March 1880. Parents Schuyler S. Teeple and Mary Cumming. Informant S.S. Teeple, labourer. Dr. Sylvester delivered the child. A death registration for Chester Leslie Teeple has not been found, he is not with the family, however, in the 1881 census taken at Galt. Also, while not stated, it does appear that he was a twin of Lorne's. A place of burial for Chester has not been found. The simple answer might be that his gravestone has not survived. Or there may be another answer. After the family registered Chester's birth, they completely changed their minds as what to call their son. Stranger things have happened. Considering that a birth registration for Chester has been found (the son who apparently didn't survive); and that no birth registration for Lorne has been found, though he appears in the 1881 and 1891 censuses, it is not unreasonable to consider this possibility. A family bible might explain what happened. |
