Informant Donald Gillespie, M.D., Cannington. Canadian Gravemarker Gallery provides us with a photo of Ernest's gravestone in Necropolis Presbyterian Cemetery in Brock Township. The stone is worn and lying flat and Ernest's name is not readily apparent. (A transcription has yet to be examined.) What is legible is as follows: Son Of Wm. and Jennie Johnston Born June 19, 1886 Died -- Sept. 1888 Ernest appears to be the only family member buried in this cemetery. Necropolis Presbyterian Cemetery is across the road from All Saints Anglican Cemetery where William's parents are buried. At the time of their marriage William was Anglican and Jennie was Baptist. In later years, William was a Baptist minister. William and Jennie's association with the Presbyterian Church, if one there was, isn't clear. |
