Our information for the marriage of Arthur Gibson of Kingsville, Ontario, and Wilma Irene Vrooman, is various, mainly taken from the Niagara Falls, New York, Gazette, courtesy Old Fulton New York Postcards' website. Page 14 of the Niagara Falls (New York) Gazette, dated January 10, 1939, under the column headed 'Canadian Social Circles', describes a trousseau tea held by Mrs. W. H. Vrooman for her daughter Irene. It states that she is to marry Arthur Gibson of Kingsville on January 14, 1939. The Gazette issue of January 14, 1939, states that the marriage will be 'this afternoon'. Ila Vrooman was maid of honour. At the time of her father's death in 1942, Irene and Arthur are living in Windsor; at the time of her mother's death in 1955, Irene is living in Waterford, Ontario. (Her mother died while staying with Irene.)

Arthur and Irene are buried together in the Vrooman family burial plot (B 0181) in Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Mother Josie Allen Connell, born Washington Terr, U.S., residing Queenston at the time of Irene's birth, and age of mother 35 at the time of birth. William is described as a fruit farmer. The form further states that four children were born alive to the mother of Irene up to the time of Irene's birth and that three of these children were still alive. The informant is Mrs. Josie Vrooman, 1063 Fourth Ave., Niagara Falls, Ontario. The statement is dated 16 August 1947. Marginal notations indicate that supporting documents include: Declaration by mother; public school record; entrance record; marriage record.
