Note | Leslie goes by Edward in the 1900 census taken at Washington Twp., in Norfolk, Virginia. The birth years are taken from this census. Son Charles is with them in this census. Edward is said to be a machinist. It appears that Leslie and Carrie parted. In the 1910 census, Leslie is in Denver and claims to be single. Carrie is still in Norfolk with her son Charles, who is 16. She has taken lodgers. She says she is married, but also that she is head of the house. By 1920, she is married to Richard Bunting of Norfolk Virginia and Charles Woodsend is listed as stepson. She and Richard are still married at the time of the 1930 census and still in Norfolk. Leslie appears to be in California by the1930 census and remarried. Charles has not been found in the 1930 census. The year that Carrie emigrated to the U.S. appears to 1892, the year of her marriage. The writing on this point isn't too legible. Carrie's son Charles and his wife and child were living with Carrie in Norfolk at the time of the 1940 census. Find-a-Grave provides a photo of Carrie's stone in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia. The stone shows her date of death. |
