Niagara Peninsula Branch of the OGS, publication C008, provides us with a transcription of All Saints Anglican Church's Baptism Register B, 1887-1901 (Niagara Falls). On page five they transcribe George Vrooman Russell's baptism as follows: George Vrooman/(son of) Walter & 'Emily Lane' Russell/ Hack Driver/Niagara Falls/ (born) March 21, 1888/ (baptized) August 26, 1888 / Bull/A.S. The transcription omits the names of the sponsors and gives only the surname of the officiant. Since Register B includes baptisms for St. John the Evangelist (Anglican) in Stamford, as well as All Saints, the initials of the church where the baptism was performed appear at the end of each record. The letters A.S. indicate that George Vrooman Russell was baptized at All Saints. Death reg. 041462-18 Niagara Falls, Welland County George Vroman Russell died March 20, 1918. Age 29 yrs., 11 mos., 27 dys. Born Niagara Falls, Ontario, place of death 80 Bridge Street, Niagara Falls, place of burial Niagara Falls. Married. Father George Vroman Russell (a misunderstanding of the question) and Jennie Thomas. The informant's name is illegible, but the last name is Morse and he is of Niagara Falls. (He will be of Morse Funeral Home.) Fairview Cemetery's web site in Niagara Falls does not have a photo of George's gravestone. It does transcribe the records showing him as George Truman Russell. It dates his burial to 22 March 1918 and shows his place of burial as K-0031-4. Such information as we can find seems to indicate that he is buried there alone. The Morse Funeral Home Index as shown by the Niagara Branch of the OGS, indicates that George's funeral was ordered by his father, Walter Russell. |
