| Note | John Tucker is present with the family at Stamford, age 3, at the time of the 1871 census. He is still with the family in Stamford at the time of the 1881 census, age 13. Death reg. 017901-93 Niagara Falls Village, Welland County John Tucker died August 4, 1893, age 26, painter. Presbyterian. Born Niagara Falls Village. Cause of death paralysis caused by fall 8 days. William Dalton's ledger at Drummond Hill Cemetery for August 6, 1893, the day of John's burial, gives a rather fuller account. (See Burial Records and Notations of William Dalton, 1845-1916, 1991, Douglas Robbins, St. Catharines, Ontario.) Dalton describes John Tucker as being age 25 year, 9 months, 22 days, and states that he died at his home at 20 minutes to 6 in the morning of the 4th. He goes on to tell how he dove into the water at Crystal Beach and 'hurt the spine of his nick and lived 10 days'. He goes on to say that he was packed in sand bags and drive home by Joseph Forde and died the next morning. |
