| Note | A death registration of Daniel's shows his place of birth as Harrisburg. Aside from the fact that Harrisburg, Ontario, did not exist in 1829, Daniel's place of birth may have been in Beverly Township. His parents' Beverly property was sold in 1845, but they were in Dumfries Township by 1832 according to the 1832 census of East Dumfries. An Abstract Index for C1-L2 of Dumfries Township indicates that the family purchased their first property in what became South Dumfries in 1831. We do not have a marriage record for Daniel Vrooman and Elizabeth Haines. They likely married around 1857, for Judson was born in 1858. An older child, Rachel, appears with the family in the 1871 census in South Dumfries. Her age is given as 15, which would place her birth in 1856. She is listed, however, after the other children. She is shown as a Vrooman and may well be, but, apparently, not Daniel and Elizabeth's daughter. We do not find her with the family in 1861 nor in 1881. In 1851, Daniel is living with his parents in South Dumfries and is shown as a laborer. By 1861, Daniel, shown as an innkeeper, is married to Elizabeth and their son Judson, age 3, is with them. In 1871, the family is still in South Dumfries. He is shown as a hotel keeper and the family has expanded. By 1881, the family is in Dennis Township in the Algoma District and in 1891 he and Elizabeth with a now reduced family are living in Windsor, Essex County, where he is a carpenter. Daniel died in 1895 and we have two death registrations - one filed in Detroit and one in Windsor. 005102-95 Windsor, Essex County Daniel Vrooman died May 21, 1895, age 65, carpenter.
