A database entitled Nebraska Marriages, 1855-1995, is provided by Familysearch. It records that Henry Laverty married Margaret Vrooman on June 2, 1872, in Gage County. Vermicie's pension petition states that Margaret Amelia married Henry Laverty before her 14th birth at Beatrice (the county seat of Gage County, Nebraska), before her 14th birth. She says that not long after, the Lavertys moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska, and that she never heard from Margaret after that. A Vermicie's pension petition states that Margaret Amelia married Henry Laverty before her 14th birthday at Beatrice, Nebraska. She says that not long after, they moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska and that she never heard from Margaret after that. Margaret was a bit older than 13, but not by much. |

| Note | The 1880 census taken at Elm Creek Precinct, Webster Co., Nebraska, shows Margaret, age 22, with Henry Laverty, age 31, born Canada, with both his parents born in Ireland. Margaret and her parents are all shown as being born in Minnesota, though this isn't accurate. With them are three children, all born in Nebraska. Also with the family is Adeline Trowbridge, age 1, born in Kansas and both parents born in Indiana. Her relationship to the family is not clear, however the census page showing the Lavertys also shows several people by the name of Trowbridge, spread out over several households. Adeline is probably of this family. The transcription of the marriage registration for Henry and Margaret names his parents as Duncan and Jane Laverty, both born Ireland. They and Henry are in Huntingdon, Canada East (Quebec), at the time of the 1861 census. A record for the Good Templars' Orphanage in Vallejo, Solano County, California, shows the Laverty children going there in 1885 and states that the parents died in Anderson, California, presumeably in that year. A voters list transcription provided by familysearch.org shows a Henry Laverty in San Francisco in 1896. This Henry is shown as born in Canada and a birth year of 1851 is shown. We cannot be certain that this is Henry Laverty, the husband of Margaret Vrooman. The 1880 census page indicates that Henry suffered from consumption and so it seems unlikely that he was still living in 1896. |
