Vermicie's pension petition states that George and Lizzie Dorsey adopted Lulu. The family was at Beatrice, Nebraska, at the time, but later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. She never heard of Lulu thereafter. The family is to be found in the 1880 census in Bloomington, Franklin Co., Nebraska. George is shown as age 46 and he is some sort of land officer. Elizabeth is shown as 35, and Lulu is shown as 14. She is shown as their daughter. Her place of birth is shown as Nebraska, but the places of birth for her parents have been left blank. |
