By the time of the 1901 census, they are in the North West Territories, at Carmel in Assinaboia West (now Saskatchewan). Josephine is reported as born in Ontario. It may be noted that Emma Maude was born in Delaware in 1896 and her father registered her birth in March of 1897 in Delaware. The family was in what became Saskatchewan by 1901. We may narrow the time of their trip to these four years. Emma is not with the family in Saskatchewan in 1901. A death record for her has not been found in Ontario. |
