| Note | The birth registrations in Hamilton of sons James and John provide us with Laura's maiden name of Eckfeldt. Son James lived only a few days. At the time of the Canadian census of 1911, she is still in Hamilton with daughter Laura and son John. By 1920, they are in a boarding house in San Francisco. In 1940, she is still in San Francisco and in her own home. She died in 1952 and is buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Colma, San Mateo County, in what may be an Eckfeldt family grave plot. A photo of the stone appears on Find-a-Grave. What is clear is that son John died in 1981 and is buried in the same plot with his name inscribed on the family stone. A California death record does provide Laura's mother's maiden name as Connelly. |
