A post office was established at this community in 1852, by which time the county system would have existed. William's place of birth as it appears on his marriage registration simply shows Chinguacousy Township. This is probably correct, though, since Cheltenham was in this township, he was likely born near to this community. At the time of William's birth the district system of governmnent would have still been in effect and so we may say that he was born in the Home District. Later, Chinguacousy was a township in the County of Peel. |
