Julia Ann Jones was born on 10 July 1823 in Troy, Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.1,2 She was the daughter of James Jones and Hannah Goodale. She married George William Smith in 1840.2 She and George William Smith moved to Minto Twp, Wellington County, Ontario, about 1864.1 She and George William Smith moved to in Sault Ste Marie, Chippewa County, Michigan, about 1894.1 She died on 6 November 1897 of pneumonia in Pickford, Chippewa County, Michigan, at age 74.2
She was buried on 8 November 1897 in Bethel Cemetery, Pickford, Chippewa County, Michigan.2
