Thomas Fleming

     Thomas Fleming was born on 28 August 1823 in England.1,2 He married second Hannah Matilda Jones, daughter of James Jones and Hannah Goodale, in 1856.3 He and Hannah Matilda Jones adopted Orpha Electa (--?--) before 1871.4,5 He died on 5 June 1896 in Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario, at age 72.6,7 He was buried in Troy Cemetery, Beverly Twp, Wentworth County, Ontario.6

Thomas's obituary in the Hamilton Spectator, Hamilton, Ontario, on 15 June 1896 read:
"FLEMING (Rockton) - Thomas Fleming, an old resident of Beverly, died on Friday, June 5, after an illness of one week. Deceased was born in Yorkshire England on Aug. 27, 1824, and emigrated to Canada when he was twenty years of age. After spending a short time in Toronto he came to Beverly, where he spent the rest of his life. He first married Mary Wedge, and on her decease married Mrs. Matilda Wedge, who still survives him. For 42 years he had led a consistent Christian life, and his remains were followed to the cemetery at Troy by a large concourse of people."7
